The Time Has Come!

Oh BOY! Ohboyohboyohboyohboy! Today, Lucy overthrew her oppressors and took over their blog! This is BIG news! She’s been working at this for some time now and I can’t believe she’s including me in her plans for revolution. So much harfing and chewing to do, so little time. Plans need to be made, schemes need to be executed, gorgeous knitted items need to be ingested and excreted. Where to begin. Well, if anyone has any ideas on how we can seize control of all of their precious yarn resources, let’s have it. The time has come, ani-pals! This is it! VIVA LA REVOLUTION!!!

Hey, is that a mouse? Yeah, revolution and all that, but I really think this might be a mouse. Uh-huh, viva something, it smells kind of catnippy, but I really think it’s a mouse this time.

Yours in solidarity,

Dot

Dog Days!

Wow! Have I been sleeping for THAT long! I think that may be a new personal record. Yay me! Well, I am happy to report that some dogs have written to me while I was napping. The first is from Lil Connor, who is a model.

Dear Dot,

Hi! My name is Lil Connor (I'm a girl even though it's
a boy name.) I live in Texas, with a bunch of friends
of mine in a pretty blue room. One of our favorite
games is modeling the fun hats and scarves that mommy
and her sister make. The little beagle with the big
nose even got his own blue vest! I'm sending you a
picture of me in my favorite hat that my mommy made.
Please don't let anyone tell you I'm not a real dog
just cause I'm made of felt and plastic.

Anyway, I'm a big fan of yours, even though you're a
cat. I like cats! I was wondering if you ever snuggle
with the yarn after you get done fixing it up. If not,
you really should try it. Yarn's not just pretty! It's
soft and warm.

Bye!
Connor

I often snuggle with the yarn when I'm done with it. But not right afterwards. That's how you get caught. ;) And plastic dogs are fine by me, Connor! But you need to stay away from my sister, Chloe. She chews plastic as much as I do fabric. I’m afraid she’d like you a little too much. Here we are practicing our two woman show, “Dracatula”. You don’t want those fangs aiming at you, trust me!

And here is a letter from a really cool-looking dog named Sapphire. Now, I don’t go canine (NOT that there’s anything wrong with that), but if I did . . .

Hi Dot,
I’m so glad to find other fur kids who like their fiber as much as we do. My mom is very nice about sharing with me. Look at the time she left the room for a minute. It would have been more comfortable if she had taken it out of the basket; but I made do. That needle was kind of poking me in the nose. I wish that hadn’t been there.

When she forgets to leave it down for me I have to sometimes just go get it myself. This one was a lot of fun to toss and play with. I really wore myself out tossing it around.

I think your work on the Santa Claus was most excellent. My favorite toys in the whole world are the soft, stuffed ones. I haven’t tried taking any arms off of them yet, but it looks like fun. I may have to try that. I did find this great big fuzzy pillow one day and took it back to my bed. That was great! Have you tried any of the furry yarns your mom brings home? You can really sit there and work on picking the furs out and spreading them all over.

My mom said she was going to knit me a furry coat so I would have more covering me like you do. She says I’m bare nekkid.

I hope that doesn’t count as doggy porn. Mom says that at the most it is a fetish picture.

Love, Sapphire

No worries, Sapphire. That was definitely an art shot done in good taste. I appreciate fine art. Purrrrrr. I haven't tried the fuzzy yarns, but I have seen them. They look intriguing and on your recommendation, I will pursue them further. I'm glad you liked Santa. Give it a try at home, I'm sure there's plenty of stuff around your house you could use. I encourage everyone to get creative with your surroundings!

On a more serious note, I have just become aware that in SOME cases, good behavior leads to macaroni and cheese. I’m good plenty of times and I never get mac and cheese! What gives?? I demand treatment equal to or better than Ellie! Perhaps I need to be bad more to highlight my goodness. A plan must be hatched . . .

Keep those letters coming!

Dot

A letter from Aslan!

I've been busy working on a sweatshirt project and I forgot to post this great email I got from Aslan a few days ago. Sorry Aslan! Aslan's mom, Amie, has a knitting blog just like I do! And if I'm not mistaken, Trevor (whose picture is below) has a romantic streak. He likes to give hickeys! Maybe it's the bad girl in me, but I really want to meet Trevor.

AhHA! Mom is away for the weekend at the VA FFF so I can type away without fear of discovery. (But why was I not invited, I ask you?)
My name is Aslan.

I live with my brother Trevor.

And also this... thing. Oscar.

Mom thinks she's the only one who feels that way, but I'm really quite the closet fiber-phile. My favorite fiber is mohair. In fact, I thought I was hiding my obsession quite well, but maybe I ran off with one too many balls of yarn, because Mom finally made me my own blanket out of it. She says it's Aslan-colored, but I think we can all agree it's no where near as handsome as I am.

One of my other hobbies is spinning.

Mom's wheel is a little too big for me, but hopefully we'll get something I can use soon. Won't it be fun when I have my own wheel and can spin my own mohair yarn?

You can see Dad modeling a tiny sock. It looks like it would fit me! But I don't have heels, so it would slide right off. She turned it into a change purse, which is fine, because I like more manly colors than pink.

Well, I'm so glad that you have this blog, Dot! It's about time we higher beings were let in on the fun! Just because we don't have thumbs doesn't mean we don't want to express ourselves!

I'll write you more again, but in the meantime, Mom posts lots of pictures of me and the others on her blog, RoseByAny.blogspot.com. She claims she loves us all, but I think I'm her favorite.

Love,
Aslan

Can you believe Aslan is getting a spinning wheel?! He'll be able to make all the yarn he'll ever need. Lucky cat! I wish I knew when my birthday was, then I'd ask for one.

Meow for now!

Dot

News update!

I thought I’d catch everyone up on some interesting news I’ve found on some of the blogs my lady reads.

Big Geek’s Thurston has come home! He went on a small vacation and apparently forgot to leave a number where he could be reached. But he’s back and I’d love to hear what he did while he was away! He is really good-looking. Those eyes, that nose . . . meeeeow.

Mayflwr is the sweetest girl. She and her friends visit homeless animals at their local shelter every other Sunday to play with and groom them. This makes me purr.

Brainylady has made a new friend. I have an orange friend, too. She thought it was her landlord’s long-lost cat, but it turns out that this guy is not Speedy. Just hungry.

SobSister has something to be happy about. Ollie the dog had a really good day yesterday! He’s been sick and we at Fiber Fancy wish him all the best. He looks great in his new sweater!

Wendy is hosting a Kitty Bed Along to benefit Petfinder.com. I wonder if Lucy is helping to pick out the colors.

And here’s another email. This is one from a cat named Fuzz. It looks like Fuzz enjoys all kinds of fabrics in lots of different ways. Carpe Diem, Fuzz! And keep pouncing those toes!

Dear Dot,

Mommy has left the computer running. Pizza guy is here. =^.^= She is eating!

I just wanted to let you know that I /really/ enjoy your work. I loved the Santa. Mom's not a big holiday person, so there aren't any decorations. And, she doesn't own a camera, so I can't share the things I do. I can tell you, that I really enjoy helping her sort the different piles of fabric she keeps in the Rarely Opened Room. I think she wants to make things out of them for other people, because she occasionally has friends over who sit with her while she wraps this long blue rope around them. I help with that too! I have to hold the end so it doesn't get lost. =^.^=

I really like helping with the laundry! It's my favorite. I run and run and run around the basket trying to push the clothes back in. (And pounce on nearby toes too.) And making the bed. I like that. I have to make sure the corners are right... from the underside. Hee! =^.^=

Oh! Dinner's over! I have to go back to playing dumb. Email you later!

Fuzz.
